Arrangements for Mr. James "Ham" Merriweather, 68, the son of the late William Merriweather and Annie Lillian Townsend Merriweather was born October 17, 1957 in Edgefield County, SC . He transitioned on Friday, February 6, 2026.
He was baptized at the Rosa Spring Baptist Church at a young age.
He was educated in the schools of Edgefield County. he was a 1976 graduate of Strom Thurmond High School. He was employed at Trantech Radiator Products for 30 years and retired from Herlong Chevrolet, Inc, Batesburg- Leesville, SC.
He was preceded in death by his son, Daytron R. Merriweather, his parents, William and Annie Lillian Merriweather, his sister Annie Juanita Merriweather, his brothers, John Merriweather, Albert Merriweather, Willie Merriweather, and his brother-in-law, Eric Tracy Amos.
James leaves to cherish his memories- his loving wife of the home, Helen Merriweather, one daughter, Gwendolyn (Ulysses) Chinn, Johnston, SC, two sons, James E. Merriweather II, Johnston, SC and Dean Deon Gartrell, Aiken, SC; his fifteen grandchildren. His siblings- Sadie Martin, District Heights, MD, William (Patsy) Merriweather, Saluda, SC, Patrice Price, Landover MD, Deloris Marshall, Johnston, SC, Taylor Merriweather, North Augusta, SC, and Doe (Greg) Bryant, Johnston, SC. His in-laws, Vanessa Merriweather, Johnston, SC, Justee Merriweather, North Augusta, SC, Horace (Lorraine) Amos, Jr. , MD, Gwendolyn Fay Haynes, Columbia, SC, Carolyn Amos, Columbia, SC, Dennis Amos, Washington, State, Iris (Albert) Curry, Stafford, VA, Cheryl (Frank) Goodwin, Columbia, SC, Sandra (Cliff) Felder, Johnston, SC, and Katie Ilean Amos, Augusta, GA. One Uncle, Freddie Merriweather, Johnston, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many sorrowing friends. Please keep his family in prayer.
