Randolph Upson, affectionately known as “Bob” to many, was born on October 28, 1952, in Edgefield, SC, to the late Albert Upson Jr and Fannie Mae Lee. He departed his life on August 15, 2026, at Self Regional Hospital in Greenwood, SC, after a sudden, brief illness.
He attended Strom Thurmond High School in Johnston, SC, and was a member of the Republican Grove Baptist Church. He was a dedicated worker at the Fairway Food Center and the Ole Butcher Shop for 58 years.
Randolph leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Marilyn Upson of Brooklyn, New York, two daughters, Latoya Upson Hogan(Anton) of Fresh Meadows, New York, and Annetta Harris of Trenton, South Carolina. He also has two stepchildren, Damon Geter and Ebony Henry of Jamaica, New York. He has five grandchildren, Jordan Robinson, Jaylen Hogan, Aayla Hogan, Deontrez Harris, and Shakiera Harris, who preceded him in death. He has four great-grandchildren: Marquis Brooks III, Kaylee Harris, Mazi White, and Amir Harris. He has one brother Rudoplh Upson(Charlie), and a sister, Jeanette Harris. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the family of Robert Brazell and The Butcher Shop Family.
Randolph was well-loved by his family, friends, and community. He will be deeply missed by everyone he encountered. He had a passion for Strom Thurmond Rebels, for whom he had passes for decades and rarely missed a game, and those Washington Redskins(Commodores) were his favorite also.
