J. C. Clark

Edgefield, SC - Funeral Services for Mr. J. C. Clark will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday August 13, 2025, at the United Church of God, Edisto St., Johnston, SC with the Elder George Gore, Jr, Pastor/Officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, on Archie Ware Road. Viewing will be 11:00AM - 6:00 PM Tuesday at the Amos & Sons Funeral Home, Johnston.

J. C. Clark was born on February 8, 1970, the son of Josh Clark and Alberta Anderson Clark. He entered into eternal rest on August 7, 2025.

J. C. was educated in the Edgefield County School System.

As a young man, J. C. was baptized and served his membership at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church for most of his young life.  More than 10 years ago, he changed his membership to Holiness and joined the United Church of God in Johnston.

J. C. didn’t have any children, but he was once married to Lisa Coleman.

J. C. was very dedicated to all the church members and friends. He loved going to church and church was his second nature. J. C. loved fishing when he had time. Also, when he had time he would take care of his chickens and watch sports, especially Lakers basketball and Carolina Panthers football. On a daily basis, J. C. would spend a lot of time with the family watching movies and talking about the good 'ole days. He would crack jokes from time to time about the good ‘ole days. When the movies would go off and we were done talking and cracking jokes, he would go back home and listen to his scanner to see what was going on in the area. Afterwards, he would go to sleep listening to his gospel music.

On the seventh of August 2025, he did his same routine. Only this time he didn’t wake up while listening to his gospel music. God called J. C. home that afternoon. God saw that his body was tired and it was time for him to rest.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Clark.

J.C. leaves to love, honor and cherish his memories, his parents, Josh and Alberta Clark of Edgefield, SC, a sister, Daisy Mae Broadwater, Batesburg, SC, a brother, Jermaine E. Clark, Saluda, SC, paternal grandparents, Ben and Viola Clark, maternal grandparents, Julian and Frances Anderson, McCormick, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Barbara Ann Kirk

Homegoing Services for Barbara Ann Kirk will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 2:00pm in the Amos & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 412 Railroad Avenue, Johnston, SC 29832. Reverend Winston Oliphant is officiating, and Reverend Lonnie Jones will be the Eulogist. Interment will be in the Rosa Spring Baptist Church Cemetery, Johnston, SC.

Barbara Ann Kirk was born November 28, 1962. She was the daughter of the late Mike and Polly Williams Kirk. She transitioned to her new home on June 12, 2025.

She joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church at an early age and later attended the Reedy Branch Baptist Church occasionally.

She was educated in the Aiken County Public School System. She was a homemaker most of her life.

Those who preceded her in death are her parents, Mike and Polly Williams Kirk, and her siblings, Brenda Kirk, Christine Kirk, Bernice Kirk, Jeanet Kirk, Pearl Kirk, Authur Kirk, Matthew Kirk, Randy Kirk, James Kirk, Willie J. Kirk, Leroy Kirk, And Allen Kirk.

She leaves to love, honor, and cherish her memories: her sons, Anthony (Jackie) Kirk, Ricky Kirk, and Johnny (Linda) Kirk, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Earnest Martin

Homegoing Services for Mr. Earnest Martin will be held on Thursday, June 19. 2025 at 11:00 am at the Amos & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Johnston, SC. Officiating Minister is Rev. Damian Bryant. Committal service and interment will be held at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC at 10:00 am on Friday, June 20, 2025.

Mr. Earnest Martin was born April 24, 1947. He was the son of Manchester Martin and Cornelia Smith Martin. He entered into eternal rest on June 12, 2025, at the PruittHealth in Aiken SC after a brief illness.

At an early age, Earnest joined and was baptized as a member of Lotts Grove Baptist Church, where he served for many years.

Earnest was educated in the schools of Edgefield County, SC. Following school , Earnest answered his country’s call and entered the military, specifically the Army, to support his country. He proudly stood on his duty as a veteran.

After his honorable separation from the military, He served his county and town as a personal custodian for a number of years. His sharp wit and sharp tongue will be missed.

Earnest was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings, Jackie Martin, Willie James Martin, Florence Young and Eddie Martin.

He leaves to love honor and cherish his memory, a special niece, Tenecka Young Dorn, (Nelson & Ashlyn Dorn), Edgefield, SC, additional special nieces, Faye Martin and Adrena Martin and Loretta Price, all from Johnston, SC, special nephews, Roosevelt Young Nelson Dorn; and a special cousin, Abbie Cook (Andrew) Lexington, SC and a host of other nieces ,nephews cousins other relatives and friends.

Thomas Dukes

Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Thomas Dukes will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the Amos & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 412 Railroad Avenue, Johnston, SC, 29832, with Reverend Larry Raiford officiating.

Thomas Dukes was the baby boy of James Dukes, Sr., and Emma Nicholson Dukes. He was born on August 16, 1947. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Greenwood Hospital.

He was educated at Ridge Hill School in Ridge Spring, SC. He worked many years logging with EC Culbreath. He will truly be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, WendyDukes.

He leaves to cherish his many memories, his wife, Hattie B. Theresa Rosena Anderson

Theresa Rosene Anderson, 87, of Whitehall, PA, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, died peacefully in the home of her son, Sinclair Anderson, Jr., with whom she resided. She was the widow of Sinclair Anderson, Sr. Born in Ward, SC, she was the daughter of the late A. C. Graham and the late Mabel (Williams) Long.

Theresa was a devoted wife and mother and member of Faith Chapel Baptist Church, Brooklyn, NY, where she served as a deaconess for many years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and cooking for her family. She treasured her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren.

Survivors: Children, Sandra Roper of Ridge Spring, SC, Sarah Graham of Brooklyn, NY, Lula Bell, wife of Randy Mathis of Saluda, SC, Theresa Anderson of Newark, DE, Linda Anderson of Brooklyn, NY, Karen, wife of Tommie Thomas of Easton, PA, Dexter Anderson and his wife, Veronica, of Long Pond, PA, Sinclair Anderson, Jr., and his wife, Andrea, of Whitehall, PA, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great- great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sons, Bruce and Ronald Anderson.

Sis. Annie Mae Staley

Sis. Annie Mae Butler Staley, left this world and began her eternal rest on Monday February 10th, 2025. She was born in Saluda County, SC to the late George and Mattie (Bush) Butler on December 16th 1939. She received her formal education through Edgefield County Schools and is a 1960 graduate of Edgefield County High School.

During her early years in life she was a faithful member of the Bland Baptist Church. There were also times in which she attended the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, located in Johnston, SC where her father was a member. Like her father, the late George Butler, she could carry a tune. We often laughed about how her voice drowned out our voices when we were singing, because it was just that powerful.

She relocated to Queens, New York in 1961 to start a new life after graduating from high school. Little did she know that when she left SC, that she would meet the love of her life, John Benjamin Staley on June 11th, 1961. It was always funny to hear stories of how mommy was so excited, when he came to meet her parents and ask for her hand in marriage that same year. Indeed love was in the air as they were joined in marriage in that same year on December 24th, 1961.

She joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Jamaica (Queens), New York in 1977. She was a phenomenal Sunday School teacher, Deaconess, a dedicated soup kitchen worker in the church, a member of numerous choirs such as the Evangelistic Choir, the Mass Choir and the Jackson Chorus. The Jackson Chorus was a legendary choir at the Mount Zion Baptist Church, that represents, down home southern style quartet, acapella gospel singing that was soul stirring and meant so much to her. She also became one of the mother’s of the church at the Mount Zion Baptist Church and she graciously served in these roles and other important roles in the church until the very end of her life.

Did anyone say bowling? She was one of the best bowlers New York ever saw. She was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church Classics Bowling Team. She was a top scorer and a lot of times she would bowl better than her son Anthony! She was a great seamstress with her own sewing machine. She was handy at fixing things in the home much like her own mother. She was a great cook and one of the best drivers in New York! While she spent many years in New York, her heart was always in South Carolina and she truly loved her home church, Bland Baptist Church.

She left an amazing strong legacy that will not be forgetten. She was a selfless person who worked very hard for many years as housekeeper. She always put everyone else before her own needs. It is this type of inspiration that will carry us through these difficult times.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, John B. Staley. Through this union, God blessed the couple with eight beautiful children. Four children preceeded her in death, Barry F. Staley, Betty Isaac, Bennie Isaac and Bobbie Isaac. She was also preceeded in death by her only brother, Dea. John H. Butler.

She leaves a lasting legacy that is embedded in her loving family: two sons, Trustee Anthony Eric Staley of Johnston, South Carolina, and Curtis Isaac of Hopkins, South Carolina; two daugthers Dr. Carol Lanita (Dea. John) Abney of Saluda, South Carolina and Laverne Denise Staley of South Ozone Park, New York, five amazing granddaughters who she helped enter into this world and cared for them, Daeshnae K. Staley of Aiken, SC, Syreen N. Sharper, Ava G. Abney, Addison G. Abney and Alexia G. Abney all of Saluda, SC, a special brother in-law and a devoted sister, Dea.Wendell and Lanie Miles of Aiken, South Carolina; a special sister-in-law, Patricia Thompson of Lexington, SC, a special friend Walter Mae Abney of Saluda, SC (mother-in-love to Carol) and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, church family and friends that will miss her.

Mr. William "Tony" Anderson

William “Tony” Anderson, was called from this earthly life to his Heavenly reward on Monday, August 25, 2024, at Peidmont Augusta Healthcare Center, in Augusta. He was the son of Woodrow Anderson, Sr. and Sara Ann Andrews Anderson. He was born on July 26, 1940, in Oyster Bay, New York.

“Tony” as he was affectionately known, was educated in the schools of Edgefield County. He was a hardworking man and spent many years working as a welder for Tranter Industries in Edgefield.

Tony met, fell in love and married Omelia Talbert in 1968. Over 56 years, “Tony” shared his life, ups and downs, good and bad, and a lot of life’s milestones with the love of his life, Omelia Talbert. This was a bond that grew stronger as the years continued. This bond produced one son, Darrin Anderson. Tony was truly loved and will be missed dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Woodrow Jr., Charles Arthur, and Horace Anderson. Also, two sisters preceded him in death, Pearl Jean Emanuel and Mary Frances.

He leaves to love, honor, and cherish his memories, his beloved wife of 56 years, Omelia T. Charles Nicholson

Funeral Services for Mr. Charles Nicholson will be held 1:00pm Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Rosa Spring Baptist Church where the Rev. Winston. G. Oliphant is Pastor/ Eulogist. Interment will follow in the Sunset Gardens Memorial Cemetery on Highway 23 (Columbia Road, Johnston, SC).

Charles Nicholson, age 59, departed this early life on Augusta 20, 2024 at WellStar MCG, Augusta, GA. Charles was born in Johnston, SC on May 25. 1965 to the late Tol (Hamp) Nicholson and the late Annie Mae Marshall Nicholson.

Charles graduated from Strom Thurmond High in 1985. After high school he worked for Graniteville Company for 13 years. He then changed jobs and started working at Trantech Radiator Products for 19 years until he became ill and had to resign.

Charles joined Rosa Spring Baptist Church at an early age. Years later he was ordained as a Deacon.

His parents and brother, Alvin Nicholson, preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memories; a loving wife; Yvonne Bryant Nicholson of the home, one son; Charles J. Leomia Felder Haynes

Leomia Felder Haynes was born on November 11, 1959, in Edgefield County, SC.She is the daughter of the late Enit and Lillie Mae Felder. She made her transition from this life into eternal rest early. Monday morning, August 5, 2024.

She was a graduate of the Strom Thurmond High School. She worked at Graniteville Mills for many years. After leaving there, she worked at the University Hospital in House Keeping until her retirement.

Leomia was formerly married to Robbie Haynes, Sr. They were blessed with two sons, Lionell Haynes and Robbie Haynes, Jr.

Leomia is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Robbie Haynes, Iii, Augusta, GA, and Jordan Haynes, Atlanta, GA, her parents, Enit and Lillie Mae Felde, five brothers, Willie, Enit, Jr., Ernest, James Louis, and John Henry Felder.

She is survived by five brothers, Clifton (Sandra), Calvin (Carol), George, Raymond, all of Johnston, SC, Curtis Ervin and Fred Lee, Florida, three sisters, Mary J., Betty E., and Eliza Mae, all of Johnston, SC, three sisters-in-law, Mary Lee, St. Albans, NY, Patricia Felder, Brooklyn, NY, and Barbara Felder, Greenwood, SC, two brothers-in-law, Bernard Haynes, and Patrick Tompson, Denmark, SC, and a great host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends!

Mr. Booker T. Williams, Jr., was called from this earthly life on Monday, June 24, 2024, at his residence. He was born to Dora Mae Williams and the late Booker T. Williams, Sr., on November 22, 1955, in Edgefield County, South Carolina.

Booker T was educated in the schools of Edgefield County. He grew up and was baptized in the Rosa Spring Baptist Church. He was a hard worker who worked for many years for Amick Farms.

Booker T enjoyed being with family and friends. Numerous family and friends spent time laughing and talking sports (Atlanta Falcons) and life on his front porch. His fellowship and wit will forever be missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Booker T. Williams, Sr., and a brother, Willie Williams.
